Summary
Although known for her work in the fields of film, theater and books, for the purpose of this lecture artist Barbara Bloom limits her presentation to her installation work. She comments at length on the various cultural, literary, and/or historical references embedded in her work. She fields questions about her studio practice, manipulation of ready-made materials to express her ideas, and her relationship to her audience. She also addresses a challenge to her choice of an ethnic motif for her "Pictures from the Floating World" installation
