  • The letters appeared in the Pall Mall gazette, the World, and Truth, 1885-1890. Also included are selections from Whistler's The gentle art of making enemies
  • At least two printings of this edition are known to exist. In one, the first line of the statement of limitation (p. [2]) ends with the word "paper". In the other printing, in which a different typeface is used throughout, the first line of the statement of limitation ends with the word "large."
  • "Four hundred copies on small quarto paper, and one hundred large paper copies on demy octavo paper, have been printed for this bochure"--P. [2]
