- Kanat takes his pregnant wife to visit his older brother, Aman, who lives in the village of Aksuat, Kazakhstan. After the baby is born, Kanat lands in jail for fighting with a policeman so Aman takes care of his brother's wife and baby and has to endure gossip and disapproval from the villagers
